Sen. Tom Cotton claims that the only factor influencing his decision to forgo a 2024 presidential bid was his family.

Tom Cotton of Arkansas claims that his decision to forgo running for president in the forthcoming 2024 election was driven solely by "family."

In his first interview since it was revealed on Sunday

that Cotton has withdrawn from consideration for the Republican nominee for president in 2024, Cotton told Fox News,

"This is not the appropriate moment for our family for me to commit to a six- or seven-day a week campaign for the next two years."

Cotton, a rising star in the GOP and combat veteran of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, had been in recent days contacting funders,

friends, and aides to let them know that he won't run for president. Cotton's announcement,

which was originally reported by Politico and verified by Fox News,

makes him the first significant possible Republican White House contender to do so.
