The actor and comedian Leslie Jordan passed away on Monday in Hollywood, California, following a car accident. Age-wise, he was 67.

His publicist David Shaul said that "not only was he a mega talent and joy to work with

but he provided an emotional sanctuary to the nation" in a statement confirming the news to NPR.

Jordan was well-known for his work on American Horror Story

Call Me Kat, and his role as Beverly Leslie on the enduring sitcom Will & Grace.

But as he shared heartfelt jokes and updates throughout the pandemic

Jordan's fame on social media grew exponentially over the past few years.

He accumulated more than 5 million followers on Instagram.

Jordan was brought up in the Southern Baptist Church in Tennessee.

He eventually developed a rift with the church as he got older and came to terms with being gay.
