Gerard Pique, a defender for Barcelona who won three Champions Leagues

with the team and contributed to Spain's 2010 World Cup victory, has announced his retirement at the age of 35.

"This Saturday will be my last game at Camp Nou

" Pique stated in a video posted to his Twitter account on Thursday.

Pique declared, "This stage of my life must come to an end now.

"I always said that there would be no other club after Barcelona, and that is the way it will be."

Pique has 615 appearances under his belt with 52 goals for Barcelona.

He assisted Barcelona in winning eight Spanish league titles,

seven Copa del Rey championships, and three European Cups in addition to other titles.
