Davido's young son, who was born in Atlanta, perishes in a family pool in Nigeria.

A week after turning 3, the infant son of Afropop artist Davido passed away.

Little Ifeanyi, whose real name is David Ifeanyi Adedeji Adeleke Jr., drowned on Monday at around 6 p.m. in the swimming pool at the singer's Banana Island residence

according to a statement from the Lagos, Nigeria, police department's Benjamin Hundeyin to The Times on Tuesday.

The boy's mother, Chioma Rowland, and Davido have not yet made any statements regarding the death.

Although the boy drowned when neither parent was at home,

both were reportedly in contact with authorities on Monday night.

Eight members of Davido's home staff have been hauled in for questioning,

according to Hundeyin, who spoke to the BBC. Police were notified of the drowning by a staff member Monday night.
