Toronto's All-Star guard Darius Garland missed Wednesday night's season-opening

defeat to the Toronto Raptors at Scotiabank Arena after sustaining a left eye laceration in the second quarter.

Coach J.B. Bickerstaff of the Cavaliers stated following the game

"He's got a laceration on the inside of his eyelid.

Given all he needs to accomplish, it is clear that he is in an unpleasant situation.

He had no visible injuries to his head or body, but the inside of his eyelid was slashed and severely bleeding.

Garland didn't talk to reporters after the game and the team had no new information on his availability going forward

Cleveland will play at Chicago on Saturday.

Guard Gary Trent Jr. of the Raptors accidentally struck Garland in the face, causing him to fall to the ground in front of Toronto's bench.
