Juventus lost 4-3 to Benfica in the Champions League on Tuesday

and coach Massimiliano Allegri says his team is "sorry and angry" about missing the knockout stages for the first time since 2013/14.

Due to the loss, struggling Juve can only place third in Group H and advance to the Europa League knockout rounds.

Allegri told reporters, "I think we were too soft in defence in the first half, more than just the wrong approach.

We are upset and angry that we were eliminated from the Champions League.

Now that the Europa League is at least a possibility

we must concentrate on the [Italian] league as well as the matchup with Paris Saint-Germain the following Wednesday.

We erred too often tonight, but discussing them now would be pointless.

This is not a failure in my opinion. There are losses in football.

"We're sorry and furious. Since the team performed well, there is no physical issue. We have to keep working.
