Adam Zimmer, a former co-defensive coordinator for Minnesota who served as an NFL assistant for 17 years

and was the father of former Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer, has passed away. He was 38

His younger sister, Corri Zimmer White, posted a message on her Instagram account on Tuesday confirming his passing

She said Adam Zimmer passed away on Monday. No reason was given.

Zimmer White described him as "the kindest, friendliest, family-loving, sports-obsessed person there ever was."

After spending eight years with the Vikings under his father, 

Most of Mike Zimmer's crew was likewise let go when he was ousted in January.

Police discovered a dead man after going to a home near the Vikings' offices on Monday afternoon to do a welfare check,
