Harvard Neurosurgeon Confirms The Afterlife Exists

Is there life after death? Do we have a soul?
Many people who survived clinical death and then returned to our world share their amazing stories about the afterlife. One of the most incredible experiences of the afterlife must be the story of the 25-year old neurosurgeon from Harvard, Dr.Eben Alexander. Here is his story and it must be admitted that what he experienced goes against all scientific explanations.
Dr.Alexander, like many of his colleagues, didn’t believe that there was anything after death and as a medical practitioner he didn’t believe in the existence of a soul either. He believed that all the afterlife stories were just hallucinations and fictions of imagination, like all the other skeptics. But then he developed bacterial meningitis and went into a coma for 7 days. During these 7 days he had a life-changing experience.
After regaining consciousness dr.Alexander went on to write the Number 1 bestselling book in New York, called “Proof of Heaven”. In his book he explains that this life we have on Earth is just a test which enables our soul to grow and evolve, and the only way for this to happen is if we go about our life with love and compassion. We’ll share some of the most important ideas from his book.2Harvard Neurosurgeon Confirms The Afterlife Exists
  • What he experienced in the afterlife was so vivid and realistic and made the earth experience fade in comparison;
  • The main substance in the afterlife was love, which was so dominant that there was virtually no evil present. If you want to understand the Universe you must find love.
  • The communication was exclusively telepathic and no words were needed to express yourself. Everything was asked and answered telepathically.
The most important thing he wanted everyone to know about the spiritual realm is that you can’t begin to understand the unconditional love and appreciation you feel there. God and his perfect love impacts everyone,

Dr.Alexader continues on about love and the fact that it’s the foundation of everything around us. And this would be the normal kind of love we feel towards our husband or wife, our children and even our pets, not some abstract notion we cannot understand. This is that kind of love that knows no boundaries or selfishness, it’s the strongest, purest love there is.
That is the only reality there is, the only truth there is and those who can’t understand this notion can never achieve or embody this unconditional love he experienced according to him.

So that was his experience and now let’s looks at the credibility of his statement. During the coma his neocortex wasn’t functional which means it cannot be explained scientifically. In his bestseller Dr.Alexander refutes 9 scientific explanations about his experience.
Exploring naturalistic explanations3Harvard Neurosurgeon Confirms The Afterlife Exists
There are 9 explanations as we mentioned but some may be a bit too complicated for us laymen so we chose to look into 5 of the possible explanations and his rebuttals:
  1. The first explanation is that he went under a primitive brain stem program in order to relieve his terminal pain and suffering. However, this doesn’t explain the vividness of his experience and memory.
  2. The next explanation is that he experienced an inaccurate recollection from the deeper parts in his system, such as the amygdala which is protected by the brain from surface inflammation. Still, even this explanation doesn’t account for the highly interactive nature of his recollections.
  3. DMT Dump. The DMT is actually a natural serotonin which has been linked to visions. He mentions that he has had serotonin related experience (LSD) in his youth and has seen patients experience the DMT but it’s still not a credible explanation to him. He says that the rich ultra-reality needs an operating audio and visual neocortex where the vivid experience can be generated. But in his case, the 7 day coma had damaged his neocortex and that’s where the serotonin from the raphe nuclei in his brain stem would have impact on his audiovisual experiences. But, because of the prolonged coma his cortex was not functional which means that the DMT couldn’t have been responsible.
  4. Another explanation would be a reboot phenomenon in the neocortex – or a random dump of fragmented memories from some old memories in the non-functional cortex which may be triggered when the cortex reboots after a prolonged failure like meningitis. This explanation is also not credible if we consider the detailed memories he describes.
  5.  And the final explanation we’ll consider is that it was due to a unusual memory generation via an archaic visual pathway which the birds often use but we don’t. We humans only use it if they are cortically blind. This doesn’t explain the ultra-reality he experienced and most certainly didn’t account for the audio-visual combination.
The afterlife experience Dr.Alexander had is considered to be the most credible one because he has scientific background, but he admits that this is beyond science. This makes his experience very believable.
